WeBe Bags Mon!
WeBe Bags is a fun and new accessories company. Born on the sandy beaches of the
beautiful Caribbean Sea, all WeBe Bags share a heritage that is rooted in
colorful durability and native ingenuity.
The first WeBe Bags were inspired by watching Rastafarian Ladies, sitting
under coconut trees, stitching sail straps onto tough flour sacks. Colorful
pre-used sacks were transposed into classic market bags. Then and there
came an inspiration to start a business - and WeBe Bags ("We be bags, mon!")
was born.
WeBe Bags produces exciting, predominantly eco-friendly accessories.
WeBe's first line, H'Oat Couture, is recycled from agricultural sacks. The
accessories are at once classic and whimsical.
The design team endeavors to utilize reused and re-usable products in as many ways as
practicable. Therefore WeBe Bags sends a dual message for the consumer: "I care
about the environment... and style!"
History
WeBe Bags was formed in 2004 and has been expanding its product ever since.
Rolled out to the press at the 2008 Sundance Film Festival,
WeBe has enjoyed exponential growth since first attending Trade Fairs in January 2008.
Moreover, re-orders are strong. The bags are sold in boutiques throughout
the Caribbean, Canada, Dubai, England, Japan and the United States.
Founders
The husband and wife design team of Tara and Angus Beavers share a passion
to create an extraordinary accessories business that profits by providing
benefits to Third World Suppliers, American Stay at Home Moms, as well as
to both Retail Partners and WeBe End-users. In general, the WeBe Brand sends
a socially responsible and eco-conscious message.
Both Founders segue from successful careers in other creative industries.
Angus Beavers (University Of Pennsylvania, BA) was formerly the creator and
owner of several legendary nightclubs in New York City and Los Angeles: The
Surf Club, Renaissance Supperclub, The Savoy, and The Zulu Lounge.
Tara McCann-Beavers (Stanford, BA) was a Writer and Film Producer with the
iconic Roger Corman (LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS, GRAND THEFT AUTO, CARNOSAUR.)
Her Credits there include HELLFIRE, the first ever Russian-American
Co-production. Tara went on to become Mr. Corman's VP of International
Production before she joined legendary Director Francis Ford Coppola
(GODFATHER, APOCALYPSE NOW). Tara ultimately became Mr. Coppola's Producing
Partner as well as the Head of Television for American Zoetrope.
They now live in Park City, Utah - home to the greatest snow on earth. Both are
certified Bagpeople!
